Do not miss out the first online ESB journal club

Don’t miss out the first online ESB journal club – March 8th 2022!

As announced at the ESB2021 conference, we are organising an online journal club in which ESB student members will present their recently published work. This will be followed by a ‘meet the author’ session during which you will get the chance to interact with the author.

For this first edition, we are happy to announce the 4 speakers and the paper they will present:

  • Djordje Slijepcevic, Explaining Machine Learning Models for Clinical Gait Analysis https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3474121 (AI in biomechanics)
  • Eleonora Montagnan, Pedobarographic Statistical Parametric Mapping of plantar pressure data in new and confident walking infants: A preliminary analysis https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0021929021005236?via%3Dihub (Musculoskeletal biomechanics)
  • Alexandra Tits, Local anisotropy in mineralized fibrocartilage and subchondral bone beneath the tendon-bone interface https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-95917-4 (Hard tissue biomechanics)
  • Seyed Ali Elahi, An in silico Framework of Cartilage Degeneration That Integrates Fibril Reorientation and Degradation Along With Altered Hydration and Fixed Charge Density Loss https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fbioe.2021.680257/full (Cellular and molecular biomechanics / mechanobiology)

Various fields of biomechanics will be covered! Not sure about which session to attend? A short pitch of each paper will be published on the ESB Youtube channel by March 1st, 2022 https://www.youtube.com/c/ESBiomech

Call for expressions of interest to contribute as co-chairman to the online ESB journal club: We are looking for 4 motivated ESB postdoc members to co-chair each session of the journal club. This will be a great opportunity for you to lead the discussion and engage with the ESB community. If you are interested, please send an email to aurelie.levillain@univ-lyon1.fr and indicate your preference for the session you would like to chair.
