ESB Diversity Award

Background

The ESB Diversity Award is given at the ESB Congress with the purpose of: (1) recognizing and encouraging contributions that highlight diversity within biomechanics, including gender, ethnicity, ability, and other forms of diversity; (2) increasing awareness of the importance of diversity in research; (3) motivating researchers to incorporate diverse perspectives in their work.

Eligibility

Applicants, who must be first author of the abstract, must be ESB members in good standing at the time of application. Please check your membership and payment status before applying for this award.

Timing

Deadline for receipt of applications for 2025 ESB Diversity award coincides with the closing date for abstract submission for the yearly ESB Congress, January 31st, 2025.

Application process

In order to enter the competition, applicants must apply in the online Congress submission portal by clicking the ESB Diversity Award box and submitting a statement of need and the abstract.

Application review

The selection will be based on the scientific excellence of the proceeding abstract, its diversity nature and its clarity and presentation.

The selection is made by an Award Committee (composed by members from the ESB and local organising Committees) which prioritises all relevant abstracts and selects 3 finalists, who will present their work during a special parallel session of the ESB congress. Only first Authors will be invited to present.

The final winner is chosen based on the quality of the proceeding abstract and the oral presentation at the Conference.
