Types of Membership
Active Members
Active Membership is open to all those interested in Biomechanics. The initial active members shall be the persons named as members of the Council of Incorporation. Any other natural person, regardless of their citizenship and whether they are located within or outside Europe, who have made significant contribution in the field of biomechanics shall be eligible to be an active member.
Fee subscription (*): 35 €. The first membership fee corresponds to an application fee valid until the end of the current calendar year.

Senior Members
Any active member in good standing:
- who has attained the age of sixty five years, or
- who has retired from active professional life, or
- who has been a member of the Society for at least thirty years,
upon request, may have his membership transferred to senior member.
Senior members shall be excused from the payment of dues.
Student Members
Any natural person who has qualified by education and who is a student of biomechanics, and who is registered for a postgraduate degree (Master’s, PhD or equivalent) or enrolled in a recognised training programme. Student membership is for a maximum period of four years.
Fee subscription (*): 20 €. The first membership fee corresponds to an application fee valid until the end of the current calendar year.

Honorary Members
Any natural person who has rendered special meritorious services to the Society or who has performed unusual work evidencing a high degree of achievement in the field of biomechanics may be elected as honorary member upon the recommendation of the Council. Honorary members shall be excused from the payment of dues.

Corporate Members
Any commercial group regardless of whether it is located within or outside Europe, which operates an enterprise with a significant contribution in the field of biomechanics shall be eligible to be a corporate member.
Fee subscription (*): 800 € (reduced to 400 € for years when the ESB is unable to provide a reduced exhibition booth fee at the congress, e.g. when it is organized as part of the World Congress of Biomechanics). The first membership fee corresponds to an application fee valid until the end of the current calendar year.
Note: Corporate Membership is designed for industrial parties. It is not intended for University of Research groups.

(*) Low and Lower-Middle Income Countries
Members from institutions in Low Income Countries can get a 80% fee reduction:
- Only upon explicit request (need to contact both the Membership Committee and the Treasurer)
- Applicants have to provide an affiliation certificate
- Request needs to be renewed every year
Definition of Low or Lower-Middle Income Country, according to the World Bank information at the time of request (can change from one year to the other).
