As a European Society of Biomechanics member working in the Netherlands, we invite you to cast a vote on the creation of a ESB National Chapter.
Following the ESB By-Laws, article VII, the ESB council has received and approved an application for the creation of a National Chapter. You can find the application letter at ESB_NL_Chapter_Application_Letter and the proposed draft By-Laws at ESB_NL_Chapter_ByLaws_draft.
The primary objectives of the intended ESB-NL Chapter will be to:
• Fostering a unified Dutch biomechanics community for deeper scientific collaboration within the community, and for strengthening ties with other scientific fields and healthcare providers to benefit biomechanics research and technology,
• Creating a point of contact for Dutch “science agenda makers” and governmental funding bodies to elevate biomechanics on the national research agenda,
• Advancing biomechanics education and training to train the next generation of biomechanics scientists in the country, and
• Acting as a local conduit for ESB initiatives, increasing the visibility and impact of the Society within the Netherlands.
It is proposed that the initial exec committee for the chapter is composed of the signatories of the Application Letter, chaired by Dr. Ali C. Akyildiz.
According to the ESB By-Laws, we are now seeking the approval of the ESB community located in the NL for the Chapter creation.
You can cast your vote by Thursday 10th September 23:59 CET.
In order to vote, you have to be in good standing, located in the Netherlands (with your membership information reflecting that information), and you can vote following this procedure:
- Go to the ESBiomech website: https://esbiomech.org/
- Login as a member clicking on “Member Login” link in the bottom left of the page
- Click “My ESB” at the top of the page (in red) and select ‘Voting’ to cast your vote
