WCB 2026 Abstract Deadline – 5 December 2025
Countdown Alert: less than one month left….
As you know, the 10th World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026) is coming to beautiful Vancouver, Canada, and will take place at the iconic Vancouver Convention Centre from July 11-15, 2026 co-organized by the Canadian Society of Biomechanics/Société Canadienne de Biomécanique (CSB/SCB), American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), and European Society of Biomechanics (ESB).
The Congress will feature a rich scientific and social program bringing together our global research community.
However, if you would like to present your activity at the conference please consider that the deadline for submitting your session proposal for the 10th World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026) is almost here (5 December 2025).

Please consider that there will be no extensions to the submission deadline of December 5, 2025.
Registration at WCB 2026 for ESB members
As previously announced, there will be no standalone ESB Congress in 2026. Instead, our activities will take place within the framework of the World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026) in Vancouver.
Important: When registering for WCB 2026, please make sure to indicate that you are an ESB member (this can be done within the WCB submission system). This is crucial for the Society, as ESB receives financial support for each registered member.
ESB Awards to be presented at WCB
All ESB Awards for 2026 will be presented at the World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026) in Vancouver.
In details, the following awards can be submitted as usual (see https://esbiomech.org/esb-awards/ for further info):
- Best Doctoral Thesis Award – Deadline: 31 January 2026
- Mobility Award – Deadline: 4 May 2026
- ESB Congress Participation Inclusion Fund – Deadline: 2 May 2026
- ESB Poster Award – All abstracts submitted to WCB 2026 will automatically be considered. Deadline (WCB submission): 5 December 2025
The Stephan M. Perren Research Award will be presented at ESB 2027; further information will follow in future newsletters and on the website.
Please note that, for the following awards, it is not possible to use the WCB abstract submission system.
A dedicated ESB award submission platform has therefore been created for 2026:
- ESB Early Career Research Award
- ESB Student Awards
- ESB Travel Awards
- ESB Diversity Award
In addition, twenty WCB 2026 registration fee waivers are available for ESB student members wishing to attend the Congress.
The guidelines are identical to those of the ESB Travel Award.

Please note that the awards 5–9 must be submitted through the ESB Award Submission System. The deadline for submitting your documentation is January 31, 2026.
Please read carefully the award regulations, submission guidelines, and the description of each award in the system.
Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
As a general rule, awards cannot be combined – each applicant may only apply for one award. If multiple applications are submitted, only the award of lowest value will be considered.
In accordance with ESB award regulations, participation in WCB 2026 is required for awards 3–9.
Therefore, applicants must first submit an abstract to WCB 2026 using the official WCB submission system before applying for an ESB award.

Call for Bids – ESB 2029 Congress
A reminder that the call for bids to host the ESB 2029 Congress is now open.
We warmly encourage interested institutions or local committees to start preparing their proposals.
To help us coordinate the process, we kindly ask any group currently preparing a bid to informally contact the Chair of the ESB Meetings Committee by email: meeting.chair@esbiomech.org .
This will allow us to provide early feedback and ensure alignment with the bidding guidelines. Further information on the bid process and requirements is available at https://esbiomech.org/.
ESB Council Elections in 2026
We would like to remind members that the ESB Council elections will take place at the World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026).
Several Council positions will become available, and we warmly encourage members interested in contributing to the leadership and strategic direction of the ESB society to consider standing for election.
More details about the open positions, nomination process, and timeline will be shared through the ESB website and upcoming newsletters.
