Dear Subscriber,
As you will be aware, new data protection measures have come into force in Europe. Whilst the ESB have always sought to minimize the data we collect and have been taking appropriate measures to ensure that any data we hold is kept secure and safe, we have been working to understand how these new regulations influence our relationship with you, our members.
In order to help to ensure that the way we handle your data is compliant with the new regulations and to increase transparency we have brought together the relevant parts of our statutes and by-laws to produce a single privacy page document that details how we manage your personal data.
ESB would welcome any feedback on the content of this privacy page.
In the past we have worked with journals and conference organisers so that you can receive discounts. For you to be able to exercise these benefits of your membership we are required to share some of the information we hold about you with such 3rd parties. In future we propose that we only share such information if you actively consent to sharing basic privacy information (your name and email address) with the third party in question.
In relation to the ESB website we want to clarify that we do not use third party cookies, and that we do not share any browsing data with third parties. We do not propose to change this policy at this time.
We would also like to remind you that the personal details we hold about you are accessible to you through your password protected membership account, and you can modify the data held there and request deletion at any time.
If you have any concerns or comments about the proposed changes at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact the Membership Committee via our contact page.
Yours faithfully
Mark Thompson
