4th Barcelona VPH Summer School

The VPH Summer School series is co-organized by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and by the Virtual Physiological Human Institute (VPHi), and is further endorsed by different international Research societies, Networks of Excellence and Project consortia, including the European Society of Biomechanics. It is a five-days event that aims to provide early researchers, junior engineers and medical doctors with a complete overview of state-of-the-art VPH research, following an integrated pipeline, from basic science and clinical needs to model application.

This 4th edition will focus on Machine Learning and Mechanistic Modelling and will welcome a total of 15 international speakers who will share their research experience related with the following topics:
June 10th: Basic Science, clinical understanding, and need for in silico modelling
June 11th: Data acquisition, processing, and quantification for modelling
June 12th: Organ, cell and molecular models
June 13th: Implementation, validation and coupling of models
June 14th: Application: Understanding simulation outcomes, technological transfer, decision and therapy support
Early bird registration deadline: 15/05/2019
ESB members will pay the same registration fee as VPH members, which means a 50% reduction on the registration fees (100 euros instead of 200 euros for the whole week).

This course focuses on neurologic pathologies with implications in lower limb biomechanics. Topics such as Cerebral Palsy in adults and children, adult peripheral and central nervous system injuries, dystonia and spasticity management, cavovarus, planovalgus, Charcot and other conditions will be developed, always considering biomechanical implications.
