German Society of Biomechanics

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomechanik

The German Society of Biomechanics is affiliated with the ESB since 2012. The aim of this society, which mainly comprises members of the german speaking countries Germany, Switzerland and Austria, is the support and development of the biomechanical sciences in biology, medicine, veterinary medicine and sports.

At present (August 2013) the society has 375 members with many different backgrounds. There are clinicians (37%), engineers (26%), sports scientists (25%), members from industry (7%), anatomists (2%) and other disciplines. The members and other interested people meet biannually (odd years) on a conference organized by the current president of the society. The next meeting will take place from 6-8 May 2015 in Bonn and will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Christoph Bourauel. The society’s website in German language can be found here.
