Cultivating monolayer on dialysis fibres is a difficult part of making a bioartificial kidney. We can design custom cell layers to ease fabrication and provide comparable solute clearance as a cell monolayer during dialysis. In this figure, we show many custom designs that can achieve similar clearance as a monolayer.
