This year we had a high number (21) of excellent applications for this award.
The winner of the Best Doctoral Award 2019 is Tommaso Ristori (TU Eindhofen, Netherlands) with the thesis entitled “Computational analysis of cell-mediated remodeling of collagenous tissues”.
There are also two runner-ups (no specific order): Marta Pena Fernandez and Maarten Afschrift. Marta Peña Fernandez (Portsmouth, UK): “X-ray biomechanical imaging and digital volume correlation of bone: From regeneration to structure” and Maarten Afschrift (KU Leuven, Belgium): “Identifying the limitations in balance control of elderly using predictive simulations of human posture and gait”.
