Travel to Milano


Linate Airport is the City airport and is less than 9 km from Milano city centre. Take bus N° 73 to the city centre (ticket 2 euro at the vending machines in front of the bus stop or at the newspaper seller inside the terminal) and get off at Piazza San Babila  (close to the underground station – line 1/red line). 


Malpensa Airport is about 50 km from Milano city centre. The Malpensa Express service links the centre of Milano with the intercontinental hub at Malpensa Airport (Terminal 1 AND 2, basement level) with 146 trains a day, between 4.27 am and 00.26 am. 68 trips to and from Milano Centrale (also stopping at Milano P.ta Garibaldi) and 78 to and from Milano Cadorna (ticket euro 13.00 per ride). It takes about 35/40 min.

There are 2 bus companies that may take you from Malpensa to Milano and viceversa. The cost is euro 10,00 per ride and it takes about 50 min, between 3.50 am and 00.10 am. The ticket can be bought online or directly at the airport/station. The buses leave from the Milano central station (right side) and leave every 20 min.

Orio Al Serio Airport (Bergamo) is about 50 km from Milano city centre. There are 2 bus companies that may take you from Bergamo to Milano and viceversa. The cost is euro 6,00 per ride and it takes about 1 hour, the ticket can be bought online or directly at the airport/station. The buses leave from the Milano central station (right side) and leave every 20/30 min.

Central Station

The Central Station, Milano’s main railway station, is located at the hub of the transport network. This is also where two of the main underground lines intersect (line 2/green line; line 3/yellow line).

Public transports in Milano

Buses, trams and metro

A 3-days pass is included in the registration kit. We suggest to validate the ticket on Monday to be used until the end of the conference. If you validate the 3-days pass ticket on Sunday evening it expires on Tuesday night.

Milano’s main public transportation system is run by ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi). It consists of buses, trams and an underground metro system. Visit www.atm-mi.it to create personalized itineraries. Simply click on “GiroMilano” and choose your starting point and destination. 

An urban network ticket costs €2.00  

Please note: 

  • All tickets must be validated at the start of every journey. 
  • Remember to keep the ticket with you for as long as it is valid. 
  • Validate your ticket every time you change vehicle on the overground network (bus or tram). 
  • On the urban railway network of Trenord and Passante Ferroviario tickets are valid for only one journey.
