ESBiomech24 Congress in Edinburgh

Joint KMM-VIN / ViCEM / ESB cross-disciplinary workshop

Biomedical and bioinspired materials and structures: a cross-disciplinary approach

The workshop combines the 9th KMM-VIN Industrial Workshop, the Biennial ViCEM Meeting, and the Austrian Chapter Meeting of ESB. (see the Announcement Flyer and Conference Webpage)!

The joint workshop will be held at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), on September 22-23, 2022 as a pure onsite event.

This workshop will be the ninth in the series of industrially oriented workshops organized by KMM-VIN in collaboration with leading research centres and industries. Presenting the most recent advances in material science and technology, the KMM-VIN workshops provide a unique opportunity for starting and/or intensifying the communication and cooperation between scientists and engineers, aiming at material-driven transformation of various industrial sectors.

In order to broaden the effect of the event, this time, KMM-VIN joins forces with ViCEM, the cooperation center linking engineering with the biomedical world; and with the Austrian Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics, which encourages, on a general level, research, disseminate knowledge and promote progress in Biomechanics.

Abstract Submission

The workshop will cover, but is not necessarily restricted to, the following topics:

  • Mathematical modeling, experimentation, and design of biomedical and bioinspired materials and structures
  • Microstructure-property relationship for hierarchical materials
  • Artificial intelligence-aided design of innovative biomaterials and bioinspired materials
  • Manufacturing hierarchical biomaterials
  • Cases of success in different industrial sectors: health, energy, transport, space and construction
  • Medical perspectives and demands concerning biomedical and bio inspired materials and structures

Potential participants from industrial and academic organizations are encouraged to submit contributions to the workshop. Both, oral and poster presentations are welcome. Abstracts of oral or poster presentations (max. 300 words) can be submitted by July 15, 2022.

Annual meeting of the Spanish Chapter of the ESB – 25-26 October 2021

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that, after a year on hiatus, we have decided to resume the annual meeting of the Spanish Chapter of the ESB, in the hope that we can do it normally, thus benefiting from all the advantages of being present.

The meeting will be held in Granada on October 25 and 26, 2021, as always, with the intention of encouraging the youngest with cheap registrations and rewarding the two best works. We invite you to send your abstracts by September 20. All the details are detailed on the congress website:

https://www.xcapitulo-esb-ugr.es

Contact: info@xcapitulo-esb-ugr.es or 958240037.

Waiting to meet again and share our work in person,

yours sincerely,

Guillermo Rus, on behalf of the organization committee.

ESB21 ONLINE: a few weeks to go!

We are pleased to share some news about the upcoming The ESB2021 congress, that will be an online event.

Face-to-face meeting is not possible, and we’ll miss friendly discussions, gathering, social dinner, and being in company with friends and colleagues. However, the local organisers are working hard to make this event a rewarding experience.

In addition to scientific parallel sessions, virtual student events, virtual boots for sponsors, other online initiatives, like mentoring sessions, are being to be prepared.

Furthermore, it is our intention is to take advantage of this format to maintain interaction between participants not only in the 3 days of the congress, but also in the post-congress period; to this purpose, recording of all presentations will be available for streaming after the congress.

22nd Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics

ESB 2016 will take place at the Cité des Congrès of Lyon, France, from the 10th to 13th of July 2016 and is jointly organized by the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) and the Société de Biomécanique (SB).

Two anniversaries will be celebrated at the occasion of ESB 2016. The ESB is a European society founded in 1976 and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016. The SB is an international society which organizes a congress every year gathering delegates mostly from French speaking countries (Belgium, Canada, France, Switzerland…). The first conference was organized in Lyon in 1976. So the SB will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its annual conference in 2016.

The congress will take place in Lyon which is a very attractive city. Among numerous examples, Lyon is the place where Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the “Cinématographe” in 1895. Cité des Congrès is a modern and recently built venue offering the latest state-of–the-art equipment.

Please find out more information about the congress and scientific programme at

http://esbiomech.org/conference/index.php/congress/lyon2016/

We look forward to welcome you in Lyon in 2016!
